Acoustics play an increasing role in engineering. The term NVH, Noise, Vibration and Harshness is used throughout the development processes of vehicles. The exposition to disturbing or unhealthy noise in factories or cities becomes more and more a problem of common interest. So the design of the acoustic appearance of new systems becomes part of the design process. Simulation tools are widely used to assist the development of adequate sound of new products and systems.
The focus of the mini-symposium are to present and discuss the tools used in acoustic simulation as well as the presentation of acoustic simulation solutions and the problems encountered. Especially the application of combined strategies like FEM and BEM and other approaches should be discussed and future developments proposed.
